CWRA National Conference and Water Management Award of Excellence nominations

The CWRA 2019 National Conference is only 22 DAYS AWAY! For those who are planning on attending we look forward to seeing you there. To those of you who are still considering attending for the week or a day here are some of the topics being emphasized. 

- Flooding and River Systems including highlights from the Netherlands approach "Room fr the River" from Frans Klijn
- Climate Change
- Indigenous and First Nations 
- Stormwater
- Local and Shared Water
- Water Management in Agriculture

We would encourage you to come out and discuss issues, concerns, challenges and opportunities that are happening around water and hear from what is happening around Ontario and beyond.

The 2019 CWRA National Conference is fast approaching and we're hoping to see you there! The week is packed full of speakers, sessions and connecting with colleagues. 

While we'd be thrilled if you can be there for the week, we also know there are time commitments, budget restrictions and a lot going on. So if you can't attend the whole week the program can be found here, and one day accommodations and registrations are available.

The CWRA Water Management Award of Excellence
 
The CWRA Water Management Award is intended to recognize CWRA members and their organizations for outstanding projects that make a significant contribution to the protection and wise management of Canada's water resources.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR THE AWARD?
  • To showcase projects that have demonstrated a commitment to the protection and wise management of Canada’s water resources.
  • To showcase projects that would educate and stimulate awareness and understanding of Canada’s water resources and the recognition of the high priority and value of water.
  • To raise awareness of CWRA to members and non-members.
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION FOR AWARD?
The award is open to any study or project that has demonstrated a commitment and innovation in the protection and wise management of Canada’s water.
Projects must be located in the host province of the National Conference. If project is a watershed-related study that crosses provincial boundaries, the project proponent/owner must be in the host province (i.e., Ontario for the 2019 National Conference).
The award is open to organizations and requires that at least one core project team member be a CWRA member in good standing and that at least one core project team member attend the conference to accompany the submission. Project must have been substantially completed within the past four years of the award application deadline (i.e., May 16th, 2015).

APPLICATION DEADLINE - May 10th, 2019

WHAT WILL BE THE PROCESS?

Application should include as much detail as possible. Some suggestions are: description, objectives, intent, constraints, challenges, accomplishments, unique or outstanding elements, others. Submission should be no more than 10 pages and can include maps, graphs or other visuals. 

A display board will be required from each finalist to be displayed during the conference. The display board poster will be mounted on foam core board or equivalent. Maximum (length + width) dimensions not to exceed 72” in total (i.e., 36” x 36” or 40” x 32”).

Applications can utilize existing material such as information sheets, websites, public information documents and boards. 

Award winners will be given recognition during the awards presentation at the National Conference (May or June), a recognition page (8”x 10”) to be published in the CWRA WaterNews, a physical award and award certificate.

This award is intended to be fun and really highlight the great work big or small that is going into Water Management here in Ontario.
