Sibs update April 2019

New eBook in progress
We are writing an eBook for adults called ‘Self-care for siblings’ – we would really like to know what you think about this.  If you have a few minutes to help us with a very short survey, we would appreciate your help to answer these three questions here.  The survey will be open until Friday 10th May.

Back to school
The Easter holidays are coming to an end and young siblings are going back to school. If you are a teacher or parent, share our advice for schools on supporting young siblings here.  Our blog for young siblings this month focused on siblings and autism – do share this with siblings you care for.

National Siblings Day
Did you miss #Nationalsiblingsday on April 10th? We asked our supporters on social media what being a sibling to a disabled brother or sister means to them. Catch up with the comments here on Facebook and Twitter

The Sibling Collaborative
Our friends in Canada have put together a collection of adult sibling stories. Many UK siblings will identify with what has been shared. You can download ‘Through thick and thin’ from The Sibling Collaborative website.

CPD Seminar for Counsellors
This month we held our first seminar for counsellors on the needs of adult siblings.  The session was hugely successful, and we are really encouraged by the feedback.  We may consider running another session later this year, outside of the London area. If you are a counsellor who might be interested in attending – do get in touch with us to register your interest at info@sibs.org.uk

Ride London
Calling all cyclists! We have places available for this amazing cycling event taking place in London on the 4th August 2019. Cycling 100 miles with 25,000 other cyclists through the closed roads of London and Surrey will certainly be an experience you will never forget! If you are a keen cyclist and would like to raise some money for Sibs in the process, then do get in touch with us to find out more. Contact us at info@sibs.org.uk

Kind regards
