Hot Sauces 2.0

With hot sauces expanding into every segment of the food industry and beyond, what is next, especially with Sriracha?  From a chef’s perspective, and at Paradise, we are seeing a proliferation of Hot Sauces 2.0 that is starting to hit the market.

Sriracha

Different Chiles, Add-On Flavors
This explosion of Hot Sauce 2.0 includes a large flavor range of Sriracha variations. This can include the use of different chiles besides red jalapenos or an addition of complimentary add-on flavors.  For example:
  • Hatch Sriracha
  • Green
  • Habanero Sriracha
  • Mango Sriracha
  • Honey Lime Sriracha
These ideas are closer in, but we have even tasted Bacon Sriracha and Beet Tequila Sriracha. The possibilities are limited only by the imagination!

Unique Cooking, Processing
Keeping it simple and adding a unique cooking or processing technique can change Sriracha into something special with bolder flavor and mass appeal:
  • Barrel Aged Sriracha
  • Fire Roasted Sriracha
  • Charred Pepper Sriracha
  • Smoked Sriracha with Roasted Garlic
Mash-ups
There is also a flavor and ethnic mash-up occurring with Sriracha, mixing other ethnic flavors with Sriracha to create something new with flavor excitement.
  • Teriacha - Japanese teriyaki flavors blended with Sriracha
  • Koriacha - Korean Gochujang mixed with traditional Sriracha
  • Peri Peri Sriracha - Sriracha with an African twist

Other Hot Sauce Possibilities

With hot sauces in general, we can create an amazing list of fun new flavor profiles based on the same principles but using a hot sauce base – perfect for wings, drizzles, a bold new salsa and more.
  • Roasted Garlic Hatch Salsa - a green salsa with mild chile heat but bold roasted garlic flavor
  • Michelada Salsa - a great adult salsa with the flavor of lager beer, lime and the kick of chiles
  • Maple Chile - a sweet and spice combo with maple and chile notes (amazing with chicken!)
  • Harissa Wing Sauce - with flavors of red pepper, coriander, cumin, vinegar, and roasted garlic
  • Korean BBQ - with Gochujang and flavors of sesame oil, fermented chiles, garlic, and a hint of sweetness

Ingredient Ideas

Don’t forget, hot sauces and Sriracha can be great as an ingredient.  Mixing hot sauce or Sriracha with current, in-house ingredients can create a sauce that transforms a menu item or retail product into a new, exciting offering.
  • Sriracha BBQ Sauce - spice up your traditional BBQ sauce!
  • Buffalo Sour Cream - sour cream blended with buffalo sauce for a spicy and cooling combo
  • Sriracha Mustard - creating a mustard with depth and bold flavor
  • Maple Hot Sauce - hot sauce mixed with maple syrup
Sriracha and hot sauces have such great name and flavor recognition that many restaurants and manufacturers are capitalizing on these trendy sauces to introduce something familiar, but with a twist.

At Paradise, we would be happy to help you with an ideation to create innovative sauce flavors and applications – ones that fit with the trends and are customized for your unique needs.
