Hi everyone,

We want to update you on what’s been happening this past month with the Pro1 on the development and design front. We also have some exciting news to share.

In terms of hardware, we’ve switched to a better display supplier based on the initial feedback we received at MWC. The new screen on the Pro1 is the same size and has the same technical specs. The main differences are that the panel produces a more vibrant image with far less blue shift and the sides are physically less curved. (This particular supplier also supplies the display for Huawei’s Mate X folding phone so we’re in good company).

On the software front, we’ve implemented a new grid on the home screen, which has increased the number of icons that fit on the display by 60%, making the app grid look great in both landscape and portrait modes. We have also implemented a quick launch feature that lets users assign a key to an app and launch the app with a long press.

The first exciting news is that we have an early port of Sailfish OS running on the device. Development will continue in the second half of April and we want to thank the Sailfish community for working with us to make this possible.

The second exciting news is that we’re preparing a QWERTZ German layout for our European customers due to overwhelming demand. We’ll let you know when it’s ready for pre-orders, and how existing customers can change their orders to the QWERTZ layout.

Some members of our team are back in China this month, working with our manufacturer as we prepare to test the first production run. These units will then go through various factory checks, e.g. rolling test, drop test, salt fog test, etc… Really exciting stuff!

And finally, in case you missed it, one of our co-founders was on Neil C Hughes’ podcast this week sharing the story behind the Pro1. You can check it out here: https://bit.ly/2VNbicK

Thanks again for your support and please let us know if you have any questions. We’re working as hard as we can to make the Pro1 the best physical keyboard smartphone possible!

Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks...
