Great Discussion and Debate at the Manchester Dinner

The IEP Fellows Networking Dinners continue to go from strength to strength with our latest dinner in Manchester, kindly supported by Standguide, welcoming an amazing 19 guests who came together to share ideas, thoughts and discuss all things employability.

Here’s some feedback from our guests:

“I would like to thank the group for inviting me to attend as a non-Fellow Member.  It was great to be with likeminded people with powerful messages that want a voice to enable the employability and skills sector to continue to make a difference in assisting in transforming lives in our local communities within this forever changing industry.”
Shirley Williams, Development Director, PHX Training Ltd

“It was an incredibly uplifting evening with thoroughly enjoyable conversation. I decided to absorb all of the concerns and subsequent ambitions and desires of ‘wouldn’t it be great’ that were so honestly shared around the table. I always find the table placement for myself is incredibly on point, for that I extend further thanks.

The whole evening really helped me as we come into our third year of trading, all of the points surrounding a ‘system’ for smooth process for our customers was brilliant, as that was one of the directions we have always been sure would show excellence in our industry, and we have already started building.”
Sam Siswick, Chief Strategy Officer, JobSkilla

Major New Report - British Talent Attraction Index

The labour market in Britain is currently very tight, with record employment as well as unemployment at its lowest since 1975. With job creation outstripping the number of available workers, employers are having to compete harder to attract the right talent to sustain and grow their business, whilst economic developers are needing to do more to ensure that the businesses in their area are getting the workers they need.

IEP Corporate Affiliate Partners Emsi have launched a new report, which looks at how well different areas of the country are succeeding in attracting talent into their area. The British Talent Attraction Index is a unique research piece, looking at a number of different demand and supply metrics in order to create a ranking, by Local Authority, in terms of job creation, drawing in new residents, and attracting a greater share of skilled workers than other regions over a five year period.

What is particularly exciting about this report is that it is definitely not just another confirmation of the economic importance of London, the South East and other major cities. Successes are nationwide, and there are some genuine surprises in the rankings.
