Volunteer Open House When: Friday May 10, 2019 From 1:30pm – 3:30pm Where: Breazeale Interpretive Center Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve 104411 Bayview-Edison Road, Mount Vernon
Join us at the Breazeal Interpretive Center for a fun, behind the scenes look at Padilla Bay!
· Learn about the history and mission of the Padilla Bay Reserve.
· Enjoy an aquarium fish feeding and update on our upcoming touch tank.
· Learn about school field trip visits to Padilla Bay.
· Get a guided tour of the campus and research laboratory.
· Meet Padilla Bay staff and hear about the work that happens at Padilla Bay.
· Refreshments and door prizes included!
Salish Sea Stewards Training Classes are open to the Public!
Tuesday April 30 - Come learn about all things shoreline processes and restoration from Hugh Shipman (Dept. of Ecology) and Lisa Kaufman (Northwest Straits Foundation). Class will be held at Camp Kirby and will include a beachwalk. Starts at 1PM.
Tuesday, May 7 - Come learn Olympia oyster restoration, kelp, and kelp monitoring. about marine debris and water quality in Skagit County. Paul Dinnel, Shannon Point Marine Science Center & Skagit MRC, will talk about Ooympia oyster resoration (starting at 1:00PM). Helen Berry, Dept. of Natural Resources, will talk about the importance of kelp to the Salish Sea (starting at 3:15). Dana Oster, Northwest Straits Commission, will discuss volunteer kelp monitoring (starting at 4:15). Class will be held at the Shell RV Park on March's Point Road.
