Capture the Moment in Hamburg
RI conventions take the best minds and the newest ideas, pack them together, and share them with Rotarians over just four days. With so much to do, the RI convention can be difficult to navigate. Below, we've provided a schedule of RAGFP's events occurring in Hamburg, to help you best "Capture the Moment".

The photo (right) represents the launch of our RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs program at the RI Convention in Toronto 2018. Rotarians "pinned the map for peace" in our Toronto HOF Booth with dedication to return to their own local Rotary clubs around the world and form a RAGFP Peacebuilder Club. Our August 2019 RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs Expand the Road to Peace newsletter provided Peacebuilder Club blueprints based upon the vision of Rotary Founder Paul Harris for how Peacebuilder Clubs can "pave a path to peace."
The RAGFP Peacebuilder Club program electrified Rotarian peacebuilders, and Rotary International recognized this energy by publishing Peacebuilder Clubs create momentum for peace within communities on the Rotary Service in Action website. RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs are now established in some of the most difficult conflict zones on earth. Rotarians in troubled areas and around the world are unified in a simple concept of forming a Peace Committee to launch peace projects and initiatives that will promote positive peace within their communities. Rotary clubs register with Rotarian Action Group for Peace to be "pinned" on our Peacebuilder Clubs Map, and importantly, this data provides contact information so Rotarian peacebuilders may open channels of communication with other peacebuilders. For example, RAGFP connects Peacebuilder Club Makati Olympia in the Philippines to Peacebuilder Club Westlake in Louisiana, USA. RAGFP provides a global network for all Rotarian peacebuilders.
RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs are essential to peace because Rotarian peacebuilders fill positive peace gaps within their communities that are often neglected or even oppressed by broader society. Our RAGFP newsletters Rotarians Unify for Peace and Meet the Amazing Top 5 2019 spotlight their Rotarian peacebuilding initiatives.
We've illustrated how RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs' positive peace through service is attending needs to floods of desperate refugees who arrived in Europe, finding no hope if not for kind Rotarian peacebuilders. Prime examples include the Rotary Club of Cardiff Bay (RAGFP Chair-elect Alison Sutherland photo above is a member of this club), and the Rotary Club of Bornheim, welcoming all Rotarians to Germany for the RI Convention 2019 in Hamburg. (Meet members of the Rotary Club of Bornheim in RAGFP HOF Booth #4342!)
RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs and RAGFP members are not only active in Europe, but globally. In America, RAGFP member Dan Sockle is helping "depolarize America" through a program called Better Angels. This is a Peacebuilder Club story that was later covered and published in The Rotarian Magazine. RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs and RAGFP members are recognized as leaders in world peace, and our Rotarian Action Group for Peace stories are recently published by Culture of Peace News Network. These are Rotarian stories of peace through service.
RAGFP Peacebuilder Clubs pave the future of Rotary International and provide the path to peace, because every Rotarian is a peacebuilder. Learn how to register your Rotary Club as a Peacebuilder Club here. Visit us at the RI Convention Hamburg 2019 House of Friendship Booth #4342 (in the entrance across from ShelterBox) for Peacebuilder Club information and registration.

Rotary Peace Fellow Unconference
Peace Fellows don't play by the book. Every year, Rotary International sponsors up to 100 Rotarians to further develop their skills. They learn effective, sometimes radical, new peacebuilding strategies at the world's finest institutions, and bring them back to their communities to turn what we know about peace on its head.
This year, the Peace Fellows are bringing that energy to Hamburg by holding the Unconference on Thursday, May 30th, from 9:00-17:00. The Unconference subverts the form of a traditional symposium by being participant led. This provides opportunities for discussion on a myriad of topics that would otherwise be overlooked during a traditional conference. All Peace Fellows are welcome to attend and share their peacebuilding experiences and passions with their peers. To RSVP, please book your ticket through a RITS venue no later than Wednesday, May 29th. Tickets are free for all Peace Fellows. Don't forget to spread the word!

What was your 'Rotary Moment'?
For Linda Krahn, her 'Rotary Moment' occurred during a Rotary Friendship Exchange in Southern India. She met patients whose lives have been saved thanks to Rotarian action. She was recognized by the community and thanked for her work. Her story began at the RI convention; it took her across the world.
