Southern Theatre: These Things Fall Apart –
A Festival of One-Act Drama

Monday–Saturday | April 22–27 | 7:30pm

These Things Fall Apart is a collection of published one-act plays chosen by Directing II students. Students spent the first half of the semester creating a concept for their chosen play and writing an analysis. After two nights of auditioning 38 interested actors, the second half of the semester has been dedicated to the direction of those plays. Some plays are comedic and some are dramatic. Each evening will be interesting and diverse. All plays are for mature audiences only. The plays will be presented in repertory style over six nights. Curtain time for all performances will be 7:30pm. Admission is free and seating is on a first come, first served basis. For theatre production information call 417.625.9393. 1-2-3 Play with Me

This five-week program for families with children ages birth to 3 years provides developmentally appropriate play opportunities in a fun and relaxed social environment. Each week, different community expert will teach strategies for healthy child development, offer early literacy tips, and facilitate early interventions. This is a five-week program and classes will occur on April 5, 12, 19, and 26. More information: Christina Matekel-Gibson, 417.623.2184.
Botanical Bead Bracelets Family Class (6+)

Looking for a fun, creative way to spend the day? Bring your family and create your own bead bracelets! Craft unique beads from polymer clay and botanical items, like seeds or flower petals. While the clay beads cure, enjoy a special program revolving around plants. This class is designed specifically for families. Registration required by Noon the Thursday before class. Naturescaping Basics (Ages 16+)

Naturescaping is simply utilizing native flowers, shrubs, and other plants that share our environment for our landscaping needs. They may be as manicured as a formal garden have a little wild space in a backyard corner. The benefits of a purposeful flowerbed or landscape will be covered from the roots up, including starting with a new space to rehabbing an existing flowerbed. The design and plant components of a butterfly garden, hummingbird haven, and more ideas to entice wanted wildlife will be included. Creating a Backyard Bird Sanctuary

This advanced naturescaping class will place the habitat needs of our native birds in focus. One of the best ways to help and provide for our feathered neighbors is planting native plants. These yard designs and featured plants will assist resident and migrating songbirds and hummingbirds by making our flowerbed, trellis, or entire yard a refuge. The entertainment of birdsong and wildlife viewing are just a side benefit of an attractive nature-friendly purposeful yard. Everyone ages 16 and up are welcome. Registration required.
