So, how early in the year do you kick off grilling season? Right now, I’m waiting to see when Gary will clean off our grill from last year, which needs a serious scrub. I’m really hoping he will be the one to do it. I’m peppering conversation with incentivizing words like “grilled pizza” and “grilled burgers” and “grilled steaks,” waiting for him to realize that only when the grill is sparkling clean can these tasty foods be his.

Besides grilling, one of the things I look forward to every spring is the opening of a huge flea market that I love in Connecticut. If I were to scroll through the hundreds and hundreds of photos on this site, I could point out the hundreds of dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, linens, pitchers, and serving platters that I have collected from this flea market over the past decade and that have graced our table and this blog. Luckily, I need all of these (“need” being a bit of a fuzzy word) items for my work . . . otherwise I would just be a hoarder. Now they are part of the new studio prop house
