Join your local NET team

Anyone who lives or works in Portland can take NET training. Over 2,800 volunteers have completed basic training. Join them today.

WHAT YOU GET

  • FREE training that will provide you with the core skills you need in order to respond safely and effectively in a major disaster.
  • An introduction to a network of neighbors, emergency response professionals, and other community leaders concerned with preparing for a major disaster.
  • After completing basic training, access to advanced training opportunities, exercises, and classes.

 WHAT YOU GIVE

  • About 30 hours for basic training, usually done over the course of four Saturday classes.
  • At least twelve hours of volunteer time every calendar year. This can be in the form of talking with neighbors about emergency preparedness, attending neighborhood meetings, or taking advanced training classes.

Wondering what to do about illegal camping and other suspicious behavior? Many people are asking the same question.

Go to PDXreporter.org and sign up today. PDXreporter is run by the city of Portland and is an excellent way to report anything from illegal campsites and abandoned autos to potholes. You can also fill out an online form here via the City of Portland's Website. Please visit https://www.portlandoregon.gov/toolkit/70039 for more information on both options.

In addition, keep your fellow neighbors up to date by using the NextDoor app whose goal is to empower neighbors to build closer and stronger communities.

Either way reporting suspicious activity leads to a more livable and safer neighborhood. Please spread the word.

...and for a little refresher on what goes into your recycling, yard debris/compost and garbage bins.

Visit this link for an excellent guide on what actually goes into each bin. You can even print it out if you like! https://www.portlandoregon.gov/bps/56854
