Hope Springs Eternal

Spring is a time for rejuvenation and optimism. Tom's Trust was created in the memory of a wonderfully optimistic young man who always looked for the good in people.

And through the expert, compassionate work of the grass-roots youth organisations we fund, optimism is the currency we convert your donations into.

Because it is only when young people feel a glimmer of optimism for their own future that prison works as a deterrent, and that they can appreciate the potential that is lost with every life taken too young.

That's why, despite London's shocking knife crime statistics over the last year, we have to believe change is possible. And we know for a fact that every pound we receive goes directly into innovative ways to unlock potential in the minds of young people who believe they have none.

We hope spring brings all our friends, partners and supporters plenty of reasons to be cheerful, and optimistic.

Pedalling with Purpose: A Tandem Tour de Force

If you are navigating Britain's B roads this Bank Holiday weekend keep your eyes peeled for four legs on two wheels.

Tom's Trust trustee Michael Firth and his wife Jane are at this very moment cycling somewhere through the West Country having set off for John O'Groats from Lands End last Sunday.

Wearing brilliant yellow Tom's Trust cycling jackets they can't be missed, so please give them a wave and a cheer to encourage them on their heroic journey north.

Or better still, click the button below to donate on their Just Giving page for Tom's Trust and leave a message of moral support to help them on their way.

Great Counsel: Young people from Key4Life meet lawyers and volunteer mentors at Linklaters.

Key4Life is the newest member of the Tom's Trust family of London youth organisations - recently winning funding for the Behaviour Change pillar of their 'At Risk' programme. The project provides support and positive pathways for ex-offenders, primarily in the Hammersmith and Fulham area.

In December last year they got together with our first and founding partner, Linklaters, the large law firm where Tom worked, for a day of workshops, CV writing, interview practice, talks and inspiration.

Organised by Linklaters' brilliant Corporate Responsibility team and resourced by volunteers from across multiple departments at the firm.

After the event young people from Key4Life said:

"The Mock interviews were very useful; it was good to get more practice and think about specific skills”

“Seeing the Linklaters working environment has opened my eyes to a wider vision”

"It was a fantastic day, I enjoyed every moment - thank you for the opportunity”

It was also evident that the Linklaters staff gained a great deal from the experience too.

If you are interested in hosting young people from one of our partner organisations for a day of mutual learning and inspiration at your business, please get in touch. tomstrust@linklaters.com
