We have some fun things in the works.  Saturday rides and unpredicting some Wednesdays.  Our bikepacking trips usually leave Tuesday afternoon and head into Wednesday trying to be back before dinner and back in time that Chris can get Rover from Eric at a decent time and have dinner.    Also, Chris isn't always well organized or good at logistics so it is often UnPredicting.     Joining us is usually best to find out what the final plans are on Monday.   And, be prepared for random changes at the last minute.

Topanga Creek Outpost
The Spring flowers have been extra special this year.   Riding through Topanga has been particularly great lately and our Saturdays ride have been lots and lots of fun.

If you join us on a Saturday, we ride for 2-3 hours.  While it is not a drop ride, there are always significant hills in Topanga so a modest degree of ability is necessary.    Always fun and always a good crowd of people.

Please always be ready to leave right at 8 AM so we can get in a decent ride and be back to open by 11.   Show up about 15 minutes early please and be ready for hills.
Our buddy Tom from Washington, DC was in town for some riding in Topanga.
We stop for a little culture in the middle of our shop ride and read from some literature or poetry.   Chris spent a few days on Cannery Row in Monterey and read the first page from the book after his return.   Classic literature is classic for a reason.
Topanga during the Spring and our Saturday ride.   A nice way to spend a weekend morning.
Our Saturday rides are weather depending and sometimes events change our plans.   Stay up to date on our Instagram page for weekly details.

Cool Stuff, People & Things at the Outpost
Jeovany had been working with us over 5 years and we will miss him a lot.  He had been the quiet engine keeping us humming along.    His last day was March 30th and we sent him off with a BBQ.   A bitter/sweet terrific evening farewell for such a great guy.
That is Alex on the right, essentially he is our new Jeovany.

Spur Cycle Bells

 (Words from Chris)
I took a trip to the Bicycle Leadership Conference on the couple days before Sea Otter Classic and learned a few things.  It is an event for the bike industry brand leaders and large company executives.  (A couple bike shop owners like Chris attended)  Turns out providing people with a good experience is starting to be acknowledged as more important than anything.    Retail is not dead and small businesses like TCO have a fighting shot.

Apparently Amazon and the web have gotten so big and annoying that human contact in a physical location is making a comeback and and the next generation prefers it.        Good news.

We just need to keep doing what we are doing and be enjoy the journey. Stay tuned.

      Rogue Journeymen
Gear.   Made by us rogue journeymen in Topanga.
Belts and stuff happening at the shop.
John Fleck from Surly Bikes visited and we heard he knew something about leather crafts.  We put him to work.   Great visit for a brand we love and amazing dude.   Degree in literature.   Perhaps he will join us for poetry sometime soon.
New Bike Day

Arjun happened into the shop and wanted a drop bar bike for all kinds of things.  Here is Arjun with his new Surly Midnight Special.
Carmel wanted a new Gunnar and lives in Australia.  She made a trip to the USA for us to fit her and prepare a great bike.    Then she made another trip to pick up her new US made frame  and bike taking off immediately for a trip.  So happy for her.
Derek and Ellen wanted new touring bikes and Surly Long Haul Truckers fit all the boxes and checked all of the boxes.  Here they are with their new Surlies.
Griffin has the incredible Volkswagen Beetle later seen later in the Dispatch.  He also has a new Surly Ogre.   But, we switch to car guys when he is around and forgot to ask what he will do with the bike.
Matt picked up a Surly Crosscheck for gravel, roads, a few trails and basically having some fun.    Such a good all around bike.
Molly wanted a touring bike set up to the gills and before Jeovany took off he helped planan amazing bike for her.    So glad.
Start them young.    Cleary has some kids bikes that are adult level and we sent off one this weekend for this dude to start shredding.
Ollie had a few requests for his new touring bike and Chris knew what he wanted.  Comfy, upright and sturday.  Here is Ollie with his new Surly Disc Trucker.
