Happy Easter!

Our day was busy with a few gifts at home (jelly beans were a hit), service at the Home of Love Orphanage, visiting with friends, and finally English service in the city. Scott had the opportunity to speak at the morning service. He was excited to greet, pray, and read in the national language, though he needed Dr. Jay to translate for the rest. We hope you all had a special day celebrating our "living hope!"

Cell Phone Culture Shock!

In this culture, voicemail is non-existent and texting is seldom used. The result: a cultural expectation to answer the phone unless in an emergency! And if not answered, a return call as soon as possible. Phones are answered mid-class and mid-conversation. It is actually more rude to the caller to not answer the phone than to the person present whose meeting the call interrupts. Please pray for patience in this small matter as it is actually the cause of much frustration.

Family Happenings
Trips to the pool have been a nice reprieve from the hot weather. Most days we are seeing temperatures in the mid-90s!
Friends from the States visited for 10 days. We were happy to show them life here and to pray with them as they consider how they might serve here in the near future.

Prayer Requests
  • Housing - Before next Fall, we hope to move from the city to the orphanage and clinic location about 45 minutes away. Please pray for timing, housing options, and everyone's hearts in the transition.
  • Language - please continue to pray for perseverance and progress. We are excited about the progress we have seen, but remain humbled by how far we have to go. We are almost done with 19 of 35 lessons!
  • Upcoming Clinic Coverage - Scott plans to cover the clinic again in June and July while our teammates Jay and Beryl are away. Pray for wisdom in patient care and clinic management, for our family time, and for benefits for Scott from increased language exposure and practice.
  • Salt and Light - Please pray we would be salt and light in our words and actions during the month of fasting in May. Many are more attuned to spiritual issues during this month, so it is an excellent time to pray for the Spirit to be at work!
