Suicide Awareness and Hope for Those Left Behind

Every year in the United States, over 40,000 people take their own lives by suicide. And statistics show that each of these untimely deaths leave behind an estimated six or more "suicide survivors"- the friends and family who are left grieving this loss.

Unlike death from natural causes or disease, the death of a loved one by suicide often leaves the bereaved in a state of isolation and confusion; struggling to make sense of the loss, hesitant to speak about it with others, and even experiencing PTSD from traumatic aftermath.

Reaching out for help can be a difficult task, but is often the key to overcoming this grief. Connecting with others who understand this specific pain, leaves survivors better able to move forward with their lives, in acceptance and hope.

Bio-One is happy to recommend a fantastic organization in Franklin County with exceptional staff and volunteers, whose mission is to support those bereaved by suicide. Franklin County LOSS is an organization made up of people who understand and can offer critical support as first responders and through the months that follow a loved one's death.

This month Bio-One was proud to be a sponsor of the 5th Annual Bowl for LOSS. All proceeds from this event benefited Franklin County LOSS to fund: immediate resources for survivors, aftercare resources, first responder volunteer uniforms, workshops, training, and more.
