Along with SRC 2019, we have lots of great programs right out the gate! Don't miss True Crime Crew, Toddler Yoga (popular returning program) and a special "May the 4th be with you" Star Wars LEGO build.

Summer Reading Club 2019 Registration begins May 1! 

Kids and teens ages 0-18 can be registered online through Beanstack at: longviewtexas.beanstack.org.
Or, you can come into the library and sign them up at the children’s desk. Summer Reading Club starts June 7 with a Kick-Off party here at the library, and the first week of reading, activities, and prize redemption starts June 10! You may also visit longviewtexas.gov/SRC for more information.

Thursday, May 2, 6:30 PM @ Sonic Drive-In on E Hawkins and Fourth St. over by Lowes/Target/Walmart area

Join us the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM to exchange book & movie recommendations, enjoy free snacks with fellow teens, and hear what's happening at the Library and in the community! Please call (903) 237-1345 for more info. Ages 13-18.
This month’s meeting is at Sonic Drive-In on E Hawkins and Fourth St. over in the Lowes/Target/Walmart area. A giftcard to Sonic will be given away to one lucky attendant!

Thursday, May 2, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

True Crime Crew returns! This meeting’s discussion topic will be the Jonestown Murders of 1978. Topics like Jim Jones, cult leaders, and cult mentality will also be discussed. Please feel free to bring any materials or questions you’d like to bring to the table!

Saturday, May 4, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

May the Fourth be with you! In honor of May 4, we’re having a Star Wars themed LEGO Build Day!
Kids are encouraged to come dressed in Star Wars costumes and a Star Wars themed Lego set will be raffled away every 20 minutes! Use your imagination to build your best Star Wars creation to put on display or work together to build a Star Wars fighter jet! All ages. For more information, call (903) 237-1345.
Starts Monday, May 13

Regularly scheduled youth programs will go on temporary Summer break starting Monday, May 13 to prepare for Summer Reading Club.
This includes regularly scheduled storytimes, Music & Movement, Tutoring Tuesdays, LEGOs and Discovery Kids. Family Game Night will remain in rotation. They will return the first week in September!
Please look for upcoming June/July Summer Reading Club kids programs online, or through the SRC calendar availble at the children’s desk!

  • Basic Excel I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Excel that focuses on database entry and formula input to make spreadsheets and workbooks.
May 15, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Computer Basics: Introductory class for those who have never used a computer before. Using computer accessories and internet/web usage emphasized.
May 21 & 23, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Basic Excel I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Excel that focuses on database entry and formula input to make spreadsheets and workbooks.
May 28, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Internet Basics: Learn how to navigate and browse the internet. Plus, learn how to access various website services (such as setting up an email account).
May 29 & 30, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Word Basics I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Word that focuses on how to create, format, and use the tools needed to create a word document.
Wednesday, May 15, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Any new members or newly interested members, please join us for the Friends of the Longview Public Library Annual Meeting.
We will discuss the mission of the Friends, annual events, and how you can play a proactive role in helping your local library. Meeting will be held in the Moeschle Room from 5:00pm-6:00pm.

Also, attendees will get the chance to shop the Book Sale early on May 16th

We’re extending it out extra days so everyone has a chance to peruse all those great $1.00 book deals and more! (Tip: the kids’ books tend to always go quickly first, so get here early for those!)
