James Tepper, of Rutgers-Newark's Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience, co-authored a study with other Rutgers scientists on brain sensory signals which could lead to new treatments for Parkinson's disease and psychiatric disorders.
Studies conducted in Nan Gao's Rutgers-Newark lab uncovered a crucial link between brain and gut stem cells, which paves the way for better detection and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and colorectal cancers. 


 
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy stressed the importance of using data-driven research during the first public event of the New Jersey Center on Gun Violence Research, a collaboration across all Rutgers campuses, co-led by Rutgers-Newark's School of Criminal Justice.

GSN Ph.D. Student Mikhail Solovyev won a U.S. Dept. of Energy research award. He will spend the next year at Argonne National Lab working on a first-of-its-kind analysis that may help develop materials used for energy production and storage.
 

Congratulations to Jessica Ware for winning a 2019 Leader in Faculty Diversity Award, and Alexander Gates and Lt. Jamie Hendrix on winning Clement A. Price Human Dignity Awards from Rutgers University's Committee to Advance Our Common Purposes. 
The Scarlet Raiders recently picked up several New Jersey Athletic Conference honors. John Klimowich was named Player of the Week. Jackie Lara picked up another Rookie Pitcher of the Week award while Chaheen Payne and Jeremiah Richardson earned Field and Rookie Track Athlete of the Week.
