Principal's Message

Dear EGRMS Families,
Many thanks to the 150+ parents who volunteered last Friday to make our 16th annual Day of Caring a success.  I am deeply appreciative of our teacher planning committee for organizing the approximate 60 service sites, working with the Mary Free Bed YMCA  on the assembly, and finalizing the countless other details.  This committee includes: Mrs. J. Smith, Mrs. DiVita, Mr. Miller, and Mrs. Marlow.

Support our Young Actors
Please consider coming out for one of two performances by our Drama Club next week at 7 PM on Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17.  Congratulations to our Director, Mrs. Kastanek, for all her work to support theatrical opportunities for middle school students. Students will be performing All I Really Need To Know I Learned By Being In A Bad Play.  Select students have also chosen to perform the monologues they have been working on.  Performances will be in the Little Auditorium at the High School and tickets are $3.

Sincerely,
Anthony Morey
Principal

Annual Education Report

As of April 12, 2019, the East Grand Rapids Public Schools' 2018-2019 District and School Annual Education Reports (AERs) are available on the EGRPS website. You may view the East Middle School AER Cover Letter here and Combined Report here. The District AER Cover Letter may be found here and the Combined Report here.

We're entering the final phase of our Now&Forever campaign. There isn't going to be an EGRNOW! fundraising drive this spring. With your help, we're replacing it with Now&Forever, which will grow the Foundation's endowment to $12 million so the investment earnings fund program support and enhancements every year.

Now&Forever is a stable, predictable, sustainable solution that will protect East Grand Rapids Schools' tradition of excellence for generations to come. The best part is that we're getting really close to our goal for the cash pledge portion of the campaign. We've raised more than $5.61 million of our $6.4 million goal, leaving us with $790,000 to raise by May 31.

Be a part of this historic effort. Be a Pioneer. Make your pledge at egrsf.org.

The EGRMS Drama Club presents the hilarious, all-too-real comedy, All I Really Need to Know I Learned by Being in a Bad Play by Werner Trieschmann. Select students have also chosen to perform the various monologues they have been studying. Performances are next week, Thursday, May 16th and Friday, May 17th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $3 at the door.  Come support our budding young actors!

Students are issued “Way to Go” cards for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility or Personal Best by doing the right thing!  As students receive these cards, they are placed in the container located in the Main Office.  Every Friday, names are drawn and announced during the afternoon announcements.  Each student selected, has the opportunity to pick a prize from the prize basket simply as a way to say “Thanks, we appreciate and recognize you!”

Next drawing of names will be on Friday, May 10th.

Who will be our Support Staff Employee of the Year?

East Grand Rapids Public Schools is seeking nominations for its 24th annual Support Staff Employee of the Year Award.  One $500 award is given each year to recognize an outstanding support staff member. Nomination forms and award guidelines are available in each school office and in the district administration office. Parents, students, community members, and staff are encouraged to nominate support staff employees for the award.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 17, 2019.
