Guild Happenings
World Wide Knit In Public Day!

Saturday, June 8th
9:30 am - 12:00 pm
IKEA Portland
10280 NE Cascades Pkwy
Portland, OR 97220

Join us at...IKEA! Yep, inspired by a recent "confession" at our March meeting (check it out), we're hosting WWKIPD at Portland IKEA (out by the PDX airport). You can get there via the Max Red Line, you can eat some meatballs, pick up a kitchen tool you didn't know you needed, and knit in the living room of your dreams.

We will have door prizes! Throughout the event, raffle tickets will be pulled for a number of yarn-related and IKEA-donated prizes.

Brooklyn Tweed Tour

Once again the local fiber company has opened their doors to Guild members, and in their new space!

When: Friday, June 7th, 10:30 am

Eligible members will be randomly put on the guest list. There are 2 ways to get yourself into the drawing:

1. At the May 9th meeting. We'll have a sign up sheet for those who are interested and able to attend.
2. Email. If you know you can't make it to the May 9th meeting, please email us by end of day May 10th.

We will randomly pull winners whom will soon be notified if they've been drawn.

Catch Up

Marie Greene graced us with her enthusiasm and charm with "Are You the Boss of Your Sweater?". Lots brought and wore their Olive Knits FOs! See the recap here!
Rose Haven Blanket Project

We're collaborating with Rose Haven to provide handmade blankets to their guests.

How do we make and donate 20 blankets by October?

1. Choose a size: lap blankets and child-size preferred
2. Choose yarn: Machine washable and acrylic preferred
3. Chose a craft: Knitting? Crochet? Something else?
4. Find some friends: Knit or crochet strips and seam them together at a party.
5. Bring in your finished blanket, show it off, inspire others!

WE *heart* OUR MEMBERS

We're hoping to give more of you kudos on our blog and social profiles because you are awesome!

Member Spotlights include pics of some of your favorite projects, your fiber arts discoveries, and what you love about knitting. If you want to be featured, let us know via email or at our meetings. You can also do our little "interview" any time. Just answer 5 or 6 questions of your choosing and email us back.

We also love hearing your great knitting-related tips! You don't have to be a Master Knitter, teacher, designer, or expert to share a helpful hint, learning, or tip at our meetings.

Let us know if you want to share a tip.
Knit Nights:
Inclusion & Diversity

Monday, May 13th, we host our next Knit Night. You're welcome to join our monthly knit nights where we discuss diversity and inclusion in the fiber arts community and beyond. We share thoughts and insights, and ask ourselves how we can do better, learn more, and be brave. Our goal for each Knit Night is to leave with action items and to encourage ongoing engagement.

The discussion topic this month will be on historical misconceptions. What history lessons did you learn in school that you later discovered have a much different perspective?

We meet the second Monday of every month. All are welcome!

Our next Knit Night is:
Monday, May 13th, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Fremont United Methodist Church, Bob Nelson Room
