Fr. Herald was in Honduras in February and April, working with Missioners of Christ in La Ceiba and Comayagua. In February we caught up with Tiffany and Anny (top left), two of the 14 La Ceiba youth whom FMO sponsored for World Youth Day in Panama this past January. Both times we brought suitcases of donations from St. Catherine of Bologna Parish in Ringwood, NJ (thank you Marie  D and team!) for Casa Esperanza (Hope House) in Comayagua (bottom right). Hope House enables young men from rural villages to attend high school in a family/faith environment. Palm Sunday weekend we conducted a missionary formation workshop for young adults and then went in teams (bottom left and top right) to five villages of Assumption Parish in Esparta (La Ceiba) for five days of outreach during Holy Week. We got back  in time for the Triduum in Comayagua.

Doug and Patty Bauer (top left) of St. Marys, PA, joined Fr. Herald for a full 20-day mission visit to Jamaica, January 10-29. We were joined for six of those days by a diverse Frassati Fellowship NYC team (top right). One group pitched in to clean, beautify and landscape the property of St. Theresa Church, Annotto Bay. Another group cleaned and painted the playground area and mounted a beautiful ceramic tile image of the Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus (bottom right) on the grounds of St. Theresa Basic School. The entire group headed into the mountains to lead a faith and fun program for the primary school students at May River and Mount St. Joseph schools (bottom left) – both affiliated with St. Theresa Church. The Frassati team led a day of recollection for the parish on the theme of the Holy Family. After a trek in a truck bed for Mass at Long Road, the team left for home.

Since the beginning of the year, Fr. Herald has preached parish missions or other events at:
  • St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Pleasant Valley, NY
  • Blessed Sacrament Church, Harrisonburg, VA
  • Sacred Heart Church, Jacksonville, FL
  • St. Thomas / St. Joseph Parish, Cornwall, NY
  • 14th Annual 2019 Bronx Divine Mercy Conference
  • Our Lady Star of the Sea, Stamford, CT
  • St. Philomena Church, Livingston, NJ
With the help of Fr. Chris Mann and the generous parishioners of Christ the Redeemer Parish, Atco, NJ, we surpassed our Cameroon Heart Surgery goal by 50%! And so we were able to co-sponor an additional patient, two-year-old Patricia (far left), who was successfully operated on April 2. Claudia (age 11) received surgery several months ago, and we’re awaiting news on our third patient, Boris (24).  /  The Knights of Columbus Council #9053, Ocean City, MD, worked with FMO to raise funds to provide a new monstrance for St. Gabriel Church, Beausejour, Haiti.
