New Neighborhood List

Dear Driscoll community,
We’re happy to announce a new way to keep in touch with what’s going on in the Corey Hill neighborhood. This new Google Groups will keep us all connected. We are hoping to get the whole neighborhood signed up so please forward to friends and neighbors who might not have heard. To sign up - just send an email to: coreyhill+subscribe@googlegroups.com. To post, send email to coreyhill@googlegroups.com. Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/coreyhill. We’ll keep you informed about neighborhood issues and Town Meeting topics that affect our neighborhood, and neighbors will be able to post questions and events. Get to know your neighbors better! You can get messages in digest format if you’d like. No spam, we promise.

Also, for those interested in non-email modalities, we have a Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1882737985366505/ and there is also a program called NextDoor, which is another way to connect with neighbors: https://nextdoor.com/invite/nslbqdtycsqkzrdzzfhj

Looking forward to connecting online and in person,
Shira Fischer and Nicole McClelland

HELP START A NEW BROOKLINE SCIENCE/TECH INITIATIVE

A group of parents and the Brookline Teen Center are expanding opportunities for Brookline middle school and high school students to participate in the FIRST competitions. FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) hosts competitions where student teams compete solving science, engineering, teamwork, and leadership challenges that involve designing, building, and competing with robots. We hope to add more Brookline FIRST Lego League teams for students grades 4-8, and start a FIRST Tech Challenge team for students grades 7-12, but we need parent coaches to form these teams. Parents, come learn more about how you can help start teams in the fall! Absolutely no technical or robotics experience is required. All you need is enthusiasm for helping enable a unique student experience where students learn real-world problem solving and teamwork skills. Interested parents, please attend one of our informational meetings to learn more: Sunday, May 19 from 9:00-10:15, or Monday, May 20 from 6:45-8 pm in the Brookline Teen Center’s Maker Space. For more information, please contact Pierce parent, Stephen Intille (s.intille@northeastern.edu), or watch these videos on FIRST Lego League: http://bit.ly/2vxcZzn, FIRST Tech Challenge: http://bit.ly/2ISH31h, and changing the world: http://bit.ly/2Y08ud2
