Help Bábbarra Artists Get to Paris!

If everyone who receives the ANKA Ebulletin donated $40 they would reach their $25,000 target!

This October, Bábbarra Women’s Centre’s textiles will be exhibited at the Australian Embassy in France.

The exhibition ‘Jarracharra’  features textile works from artists from 12 Indigenous language groups. The chance for us to travel to will ensure that our five artists can be at the exhibition opening and be present to represent their own works and share their story.

Arts Worker Extension Program, Foundation Program, Interstate Trip June 3-15 2019.

The eight arts workers in the ANKA Arts Worker Extension Program, Foundation Program, 2019 travelled to Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne participating in a two week long program of professional development and networking at leading art galleries and institutions.

Each arts worker shared insights about their Art Centre, community and careers through individual  public presentations at the National Gallery of Australia and the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, University of Melbourne. They represented ANKA, their Art Centres and communities with strength and pride.

Intensive programs were developed in partnership with the National Gallery of Australia (Canberra) and the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation (University of Melbourne). Participants also met with representatives who provided extensive behind the scenes tours at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS), The National Museum of Australia (Canberra) and their repatriation stores, Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sydney), The Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney); the National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) and the Melbourne Museum; as well as the other commercial galleries and arts businesses.

Thank you to all Art Centres and Institutional partners who supported this program and made it possible.
