Dear friends,
This year’s spring campaign of the Tomorrow Forest initiative now over, we take stock and take a moment to thank our partners, as well as the hundreds of volunteers who joined us on sites near Brașov and Suceava. The project is our pledge for the sustainable development of forests, and we couldn’t do it without the support of those who tend the forests, of those who teach the ways of forestry, and of those who inspire us to take action.
Also in this issue:
- Open dialogue: The public consultation we announced in our previous issue of the newsletter was a success, and we have a summary of the proceedings (with video!).
- Corporate social responsibility: Supporting the children when they are most vulnerable is a cornerstone of our social responsibility activities, for they are our future.
- #HSPeople: We are proud of our people and we take a lot of pleasure in bringing you their stories. This month, the youngest Holzindustrie Schweighofer mill manager ever!
Enjoy reading!

Tomorrow's Forest
🔝 A big thank you to our partners, the Forest Administrators Association and the University of Suceava, who helped enormously with the selection of the projects as well as with the design and implementation of the reforestation
💯 As before, we welcomed volunteers on two planting sites, at Dumbrăvița (Brașov county) and Clit (Suceava county) – their enthusiasm was contagious and helped us overcome the gloomy weather. To them we dedicate the short videos in the articles linked above!
🌱 This puts us well on track to the 1 million seedlings target: at this moment, we are close to the 350,000 mark, with about 20,000 more seedlings to be planted this autumn! We help, we plant!
👉 More details, on the Tomorrow’s Forest website.

Open dialogue
The public consultation we announced in our previous issue of the newsletter proved to be a great opportunity for dialogue with more than 130 stakeholders. We also expanded the audience with live streaming on Facebook, and the experiment was successful and will be repeated in the future. A summary – with video – is available here.

Corporate Social Responsibility
👉 This is already becoming a tradition: we stand together with our friends at the Maria Ward Social Centre in Radauti, where children's destinies are changed for the better 💖 Find out more on their story on the company blog.
👉 Also this month, Holzindustrie Schweighofer Sebeș donated vital equipment for the Maternity Ward at Sebes Municipal Hospital. In the past few years, the company has offered financial support to hospitals and other medical facilities to the tune of 1.3 million Euros.
👉 Apart from the scholarship programmes, Holzindustrie Schweighofer regularly welcomes high-school and university students for practical training in its sawmills. This month, ten students from the University of Suceava started a Learn by Doing programme at Rădăuți.
