Canada’s millennials are most willing to admit that fake news has fooled them: Ipsos poll

The survey showed that seven in 10 Canadians (72 per cent) trust traditional news media and that the trust has grown by seven points, year over year. But fake news is still fooling people, as people aged 18 to 34 years old will most readily admit — and confidence in media that aren’t trusted as widely grows as you skew younger, according to Ipsos.

Online hate crime against disabled people rises by a third

Leonard Cheshire, the health and welfare charity which conducted the research, said that while people had greater confidence to report such experiences, more support was needed for victims.

Nearly Half of TV Viewers Browse Online While Watching Their Favorite Movies and Shows

In this modern age of entertainment, one screen is no longer enough to satisfy most. 180.8 million US adults will be two-screen viewers in 2019—meaning that 70.1% of the adult population will use a computer or mobile device to browse online while watching either digital video or traditional TV.

Cigarette maker Philip Morris International has suspended a global social media marketing campaign in response to inquiries into the company’s use of young online personalities to sell its new “heated tobacco” device, including a 21-year-old woman in Russia.
