Helping half of the world... was a Winston-Salem Journal article written by Chloe Rivera, an 8th grade student. After she interviewed our Executive Director Joy Nelson Thomas we wanted to interview her! Here's what Chloe had to say:
Why LEAD Girl of NC Inc? I wanted to do an organization that I could relate to as a Hispanic girl, I researched lots of organizations and LEAD caught my heart! It's empowering.
Why the title Helping half of the world? I thought it was kind of cheesy at first! I wasn't trying to get rid of the other half of the world, but I wanted to show readers that girls are more then just the feminine stereotypes. We are much more then what the world tells us we should be.
How do you plan to get involved? I plan to spread the word and volunteer.

Through the generous work of the BB&T Lighthouse Grant, we have a new LEAD Girls Technology Room. This room will allow our girls to have access, learn tech related programs, learn how to create a positive digital footprint and so much more. We are so grateful for the work of all of these BB&T women employees! You ladies ROCK!
