More strawberry ideas!

My sister and I took mom out for Mother's Day brunch yesterday, and one of the brunch specials was cornbread French toast (featuring local strawberries and coconut whipped cream).  I have several questions: 1. How have I never heard of cornbread French toast?  2. OMG how have I never heard of cornbread French toast?!

I love cornbread, strawberries, and brunch (and I'm not a big fan of white bread), so this particular combination really speaks to me.  If you're similarly intrigued, check out a recipe or two and give it a try!  The fresh, sweet, local strawberries are still coming in strong!

Our strawberries are continuing to ripen! Come see us at market this week for our delicious no-spray, organically grown strawberries, organic salad mixes, kale, arugula, radishes, eggs, and more. Our braising mix will feature kale, collards, chard, and broccoli greens this week. We’ll also be bringing certified organic tomato and pepper plants. It’s time to start your own garden and we’d love to help you get started!

Perry-winkle Farm

Our "green garlic" is now maturing into beautiful heads of garlic.  We will finish pulling the crop over the next 2 weeks, but you can still use the green stalk before it dries. We will have more arugula, lots of head lettuces, bunches of kale, and collard greens.

The star of the flower department this week will be our Snapdragons, I am especially excited to be cutting my favorite pink/coral/orange variety "Cognac."  Please stop by to see it.  We will also have bunches of fragrant Stock, Sweet Williams and Bachelor Buttons.  And there will be more mixed bouquets for your table.  Our “baby” hens are laying so there will be a good supply of “pullet” and "tiny" eggs this week.

with gratitude,
