How to Add or Remove Someone From a Group Text

Hi <<First Name>>,
 
Today I received a group text message that really should have included my wife Carrie. In my family, she is the boss!  😉

In the past, in order to get Carrie involved with a group conversation, I had to play middle man and forward text messages to Carrie so she could view or respond back to the sender.

With the current iOS version, there is a simple way to add someone to an ongoing group text message conversation...

...and I used this simple technique today to add Carrie to the aforementioned message conversation.

In this edition, I will show you how easy it is to add and remove someone from a text message conversation. Plus, I will show you how to leave a group message conversation (I have used this one before!)
 

How to Add or Remove Someone to a Group Text Conversation

Anyone in a group iMessage can add or remove someone from the conversation. You can remove a person from a group iMessage that has at least three other people. You can’t add or remove people from group MMS messages or group SMS messages (using a text app other than Apple's Messages app usually on non-Apple devices.) 
 

How to Leave a Group Text Conversation

In the Messages app, you can leave a group text at any time, as long as there are three other people on the thread. Here's how:

1. Go to the group text that you want to leave.
2. Tap the top of the conversation. 
3. Tap , then tap Leave this Conversation.

To leave a group text, all participants need to be using iMessage. If you don't see the option to leave, it might mean one or more of the users isn't using a device with iMessage. You can't remove yourself from these group texts, but you can mute the conversation.
