HUD Listening Session: Connecting Human Trafficking Survivors to Housing Programs

During HUD's recent listening session with survivors of human trafficking, we heard about the disconnect between the anti-trafficking and homeless and housing service fields. The unique, tailored services of anti-trafficking providers can play a significant role in the survivor’s journey to self-sufficiency; but without safe and adequate housing options, that growth is hindered.

Freedom Network USA, the National Survivor Network, and HUD’s Office of Special Needs Programs (SNAPS) will hold a listening session on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 to hear directly from anti-trafficking service providers about the barriers they face in connecting survivors to housing, obstacles to access, and gaps in existing resources.

Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2019
Time: 2:00 - 3:30 PM EDT
Target Audience: Anti-trafficking service program staff
Register for the listening session.

Space is limited; please register by May 20, 2019. Participants can submit questions through the registration link or by emailing training@freedomnetworkusa.org.

The goal of this listening session, hosted by Freedom Network USA and facilitated by the National Survivor Network (NSN), is to provide insight on the barriers anti-trafficking providers face when connecting survivors to housing so that we can develop messaging and products, identify future collaboration efforts, and prepare other technical assistance opportunities to bridge the gap between anti-trafficking providers and the homeless and housing service fields. Information from this listening session and from prior listening sessions in recent years will inform the work of federal agencies collaborating to strengthen efforts to address the housing needs of trafficking survivors.

This listening session is geared towards anti-trafficking service providers, however, follow up calls may be geared towards homeless and housing service providers.

If you have any questions email HUD at HumanTrafficking@hud.gov or Freedom Network USA at training@freedomnetworkusa.org.
