Rector’s Message

I sincerely hope you can join us this Sunday as we welcome our new Assistant Curate, the Rev’d Alexandra Pohlod.

Alexandra at her ordination last Sunday.
Alexandra has a Master of Divinity degree from Wycliffe College (’18), a Master of Arts, Classics, from the University of Western Ontario (’09), and a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.), Classics, from the University of New Brunswick (’07). Over the past year she has been working as a Program Assistant at the Anglican Convent (Sisterhood of St. John the Divine) on Cummer Avenue in North York, while volunteering in a variety of roles at St. Bartholomew’s parish in Regent Park.
She is excited to begin her ministry at St. Olave’s, and I think she will be a great boon for our parish. Alexandra will be at the 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. services and she looks forward to meeting as many parishioners as she can. I know that, together, we will make her feel very welcome!

JEAN VANIER, 1928-2019
“Community is a sign that love is possible in a materialistic world,” said Jean Vanier, a Canadian theologian and humanitarian who in 1963 founded the l’Arche movement for people with profound disabilities. Vanier died this week in France. The CBC radio program IDEAS produced a documentary about him in 2016 called The Rabbit and the Giraffe. Click the links below to listen.
NEXT SUNDAY
During coffee hour after the 10:30 service, parishioner Janice Douglas shares photos and video from her recent trip to Uganda visiting food security projects of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. All are welcome.
