 Please join your neighbors at our monthly community meetings. The Mordecai CAC meets at 7:30pm in the Visitors Center at the Mordecai Historic Park on the second Tuesday of each month, September-June. Meetings usually last an hour. Meetings are also broadcast on Facebook live when possible, so please tune in on the Mordecai CAC facebook page or watch the recording later.
Join us on Tuesday for a special meeting: DIET & DESSERT! At the May 14 MCAC meeting, we'll learn about the Wake Forest Road Diet, coming to our community this summer. Then stick around for fresh strawberry shortcake and social time!

Mordecai CAC April 9, 2019 Meeting Minutes
Attendees: 10+ representing Oakdale, Mordecai, East Mordecai, and Pilot Mill. February minutes approved.
March minutes approved.
Police Report
With summer coming there will be more events like Dreamfest. Please continue locking cars.
DO NOT leave guns in your cars. Be responsible with gun ownership.
Vacations - make sure your house is secure and neighbors are aware you’re gone. Make sure
mail does not accumulate.
Artsplosure, Brewgaloo and various proms are coming up with increased foot and vehicle traffic.
Again, be aware and use common sense.
Scooter update: Bird and Lime are leaving, but other companies might be coming.
Parks and Rec

Camps are getting ready to start, already maxed out. Yoga on Wednesday nights, $45 for a 6-
class pass.
Easter Egg Hunt is April 13th at Mordecai Historic Park. This is a free event.
Civil War Trolley Tour is April 14th and is $10 per person. You can sign up that day at the
Visitor’s Center.
AmplifyDC - nonprofit- Sterling Bowen, presenter
Composed of volunteer citizens from City Council District C with the purpose of identifying
opportunities to support economic development in the district by proposing addition of assets
and infrastructure
70 acre plot in SE Raleigh
Multi-use center in SE Raleigh on a 70 acre plot currently under consideration. Area is currently
zoned as residential neighborhood, owned by city.
Trying to shop ideas and see what people in District D and C are interested in.
Affordable housing is a hot button.
MCAC Parks Committee
Volunteer Days - May 4th 9-11 am at Mordecai Springs Park. Need volunteers and
wheelbarrows.

Event can be added to Facebook page or Nextdoor. A headcount would be helpful for the committee.
Recent projects included clearing and mulching park sites, will come back in October to plant those sites.
Yard Sale and Plant Sale
Mordecai Historic Park
Saturday April 27
Tuesday through Friday of that week from 1 - 4 pm people can drop off donations at Mordecai Visitor Center.
Tables will be provided by Visitor’s Center. Anyone is welcome to set up a table with goods to sell.
If you wish to have a sale at your house there is a form online to fill out so we can add your
house to the yard sale map. You can find the form at http://www.mordecaicac.org

Awards/Grant Chair
There’s a lot of money out there, we need an awards/grant chair to help us locate and apply.
Have an idea for neighborhood improvement? Take advantage of a City Grant!
Applications generally need to come from someone who lives in the neighborhood.
Each neighborhood can apply for a city grant on a monthly basis.

News/Last minute announcements
Bylaws amendments are postponed until September.
RCAC is actively making recommendations to the City Council, which was not done before but
does seem to be the way things are heading, especially regarding boundaries.
Mordecai CAC might need to appear before City Council if we have specific concerns regarding
issues such as boundaries, to let Council know our thoughts when RCAC makes their
recommendations.
Kane and MLS may have found a new spot for a possible soccer stadium, more south of town.
Location has not been disclosed yet but it will not be near Peace as originally proposed.
Citrix Cycles are up and running.
Participation in monthly MCAC meetings has gone down in recent months, but virtual views of the on-line
live stream generates hundreds of views a month.
Seaboard Station development is still on track. Developer has generated a lot of excitement and
positive feedback,
Developer is still talking to the local businesses to see who will stay and who will relocate
