Dear RGHS Parents and Learners

The National Girls’ Schools Festival hosted by La Rochelle and Paarl Girls’ High Schools from 1 to 4 May was an outstanding event and I commend our girls for the way they conducted themselves. Participation in such a championship teaches the participants about sportsmanship, camaraderie and helps to build a spirit of understanding.  We thank Ms Renee Scott and Ms Nolundi Blayi for making the arrangements as well as our coaches and RGHS teachers, Ms Viljoen, Ms Langenhoven Mrs Lawrence and Mr van Dyk who accompanied the girls.

We would like to congratulate Ms Zaandre Barrett-Theron, counsellor and teacher of Geography and LO, on being included in the South African Open Women’s Touch Rugby team for the Touch World Cup which took place in Malaysia from 28 April until 4 May 2019.  In the playoffs, South Africa beat Wales 6 – 3.  Ultimately, South Africa placed seventh out of eighteen teams.  This is the first time that Mrs Barrett-Theron has represented her country in Touch Rugby.  She has previously represented SA in Sevens Rugby on two occasions.  Rustenburg is very proud to have such an accomplished player on our staff.

Both staff and the learners have been very busy preparing for the exams which start on Monday.  We wish our girls well and ask that your home be made as comfortable and calm as possible to give your daughter every advantage while she studies.  Please encourage her and do not add to her stress.

Following the exams, girls have the opportunity to go over their papers.  They are given guidance to learn from their mistakes and tips on how to improve their results. Every learner is required to be at school until the last day of the term on 14 June 2019.

Recycling Update from the Earth Children and Mpact

Good News - Liquid Packaging can now go into the Paper Banks. Please ensure that you flatten it otherwise we will run out of space very quickly. As you all know, liquid packaging is used in every single home every single day; either in the form of juice, milk, yoghurt or custard.

The cast of "Walking Tall" Educational Theatre Project performed to the whole school on Tuesday 7 May. The cast was thrilled by the enthusiasm and appreciation shown by our girls for their message, that "We are all one people".
The presentation was organised by the History Department based on the success of last year's performance. @PAST
