Summer Maker Challenge
Reach Out Makerspace, Imperial College London Applications open
Do you like making? Applications for our Maker Challenge Summer Intensive programme are now open! Over two weeks, young people aged 14-18 will prototype, design and make with access to cutting-edge equipment in our state-of-the-art workshop. We'll teach a crash-course in 3D printing, laser-cutting, woodworking, electronics, programming and working with materials. At the end of the programme, everyone will present their creation and prizes will be awarded to the most creative designs. What will you make?

Physics Project Open Day for GCSE Students

This event is aimed at GCSE students (years 10 and 11) who are considering choosing physics as one of their A Level subjects. The session consists of short lectures and tips on how to get into physics, plus a Q&A with current undergraduate students.

Software Bugs: Why They Exist and How to Fight Them

Our society is highly dependent on software, with software controlling everything from mobile phones to cars, planes, medical devices and critical national infrastructure. Unfortunately, software is often buggy, and the consequences of software bugs are sometimes disastrous.
In this lecture, Dr Cristian Cadar will provide some examples of critical software bugs, explain how they come into existence and discuss some of the techniques available to detect them in large software systems.
Y10 & Y11 students: Tickets MUST be booked for school groups by an accompanying teacher.
Y12 & Y13 students: Tickets can be booked for school groups, or by individual students (if permission has been sought from teachers and guardians).

Y10 Chemistry Taster Days

This day at Imperial College London introduces GCSE Chemists to what it is like to be an undergraduate in the Chemistry Department. Tickets to the event should be booked by an accompanying teacher for school groups of 10 students (or as close to this number as possible).
The day is designed to be fun and interactive whilst providing pupils with a real opportunity to experience Chemistry at Imperial College London.

This event is open to students who are currently studying Chemistry and are in Y12. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis and there are a limited number of places available.
As this event is in school hours, please ensure you obtain permission from your teacher to attend.

The School Robot Competition is a national competition and a joint project of the UK-Robotics & Autonomous System (UK-RAS) Network and Twinkl. This gender-balanced competition is open to all UK school children and students aged from 8 – 14. School children can enter by downloading and creating an account through the augmented reality app or the web platform.
Download the Twinkl Robotics app and enter your class before the 9th June to be in with a chance to win a range of unique prizes, from an all-expense paid trip to London to the latest iPad Pro/Apple Pencil, or the MiRo-E Robot for team entries.

Advancing Access Virtual Conference

This isa free online event intended for teachers and careers advisers and will enable delegates to best support their students to progress to selective universities.
The event will feature four webinars and there will also be a virtual exhibition hall where delegates can chat in real time with representatives from all 24 Russell Group universities. There will be a programme of webinars delivered by staff members from the University of Cambridge, Durham University, the University of Exeter, the University of Nottingham and the University of York. For the first time this year there will also be featuring a webinar presented by teachers and advisers. All webinar presenters will be available to answer your questions.
Stimulating Physics Network: KS3 and KS4 Electicity

This event is organised, run, and funded by the Stimulating Physics Network.
This FREE Physics CPD day will improve your knowledge and confidence in teaching Physics as a non-specialist teacher. It includes a range of practical strategies and demos’ which you can immediately take back to your classroom and share with your colleagues, based on the theme of electricity.
Online game by the Lonson Sustainable Development Commission Students aged 16 - 24 years old - Available online
London Sustainable Development Commission has released a game to capture young Londoner’s voices.
What do your students think of London? OurCity is a new online game where young Londoners aged 16-24 can share their views on issues that affect them. They can also compare their thoughts with other young Londoners too. The best bit is, these results will be go straight into a report to London’s decision-makers. So spread the word and give your students a say in London’s future.
Game to support period education Students aged 16 - 24 years old - Available online
1 in 4 girls start their periods with no knowledge of what is happening to them. On It aims to destigmatise periods by encouraging everyone to talk about it openly. Developed by a group of Imperial students, On It is the only period education card game.
On It aims to do this by getting kids talking to each other in a friendly environment where they feel safe. With our network of experts, our cards will hold all the information needed to learn the period basics. We want to bust the myths surrounding periods. Making the youth more informed will help them make healthier decisions about their bodies.
