Special for Mothers’ Day: WOMEN-THE KEY TO THE RESURRECTION. In all four of the Gospels, it was the women who were the key figures. Although their numbers and names change, in each Gospel telling, the women went to the tomb early in the morning looking to anoint a dead body and instead found a miracle. We’ll review all four Resurrection stories in this Bible study.

What’s with all the creepy, crawlies in South County?

Join us at the Brown Bag lunch, Friday, May 17 and find out. Our speaker will be Norm Smith, a former Fresno County Entomologist and member of Mt. Carmel. His topic will be the recent migration of Painted Ladies up from the southern California desert, what causes it, what happens to them and where they are going. He has observed a number of these migrations over the years and said this one was not as spectacular as some of the ones that happened in the early 2000’s.

Bring your brown bag lunch, a friend and your questions and learn more about these amazing creatures.

GET ON THE BUS
May 18

Once again this year we are able to bring a bus full of excited, a bit anxious, but happy children from Riverside, CA to CMC to visit their dads. This annual event will be on May 18 this year, and for some children, this may be the only time they get to see their dads. After their visit at CMC, the children and their chaperones will come to Mt. Carmel for a party and a chance to relax before they get back on the bus to return to Riverside. There will be ice cream sundaes and games, but mainly your friendly faces to greet our guests and make them feel welcome.

Information about this program and how you can get involved is available in the narthex. Contact Nancy Priddy at 805-459-9249 with any questions.

Hope Lutheran Church invites you.....

We will once again host a viewing of Bishop Guy's lecture series this Saturday, May 11th, from 12-2:00 pm.  We'll have the live feed on our big screen in the sanctuary. Anyone is welcome to join us, but please note that they should bring their own lunch this time.

We'd also like to invite your congregations to two other events we'll be hosting at Hope. First, we are having a Wine, Food, & Fun Event on Friday, May 17th, from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm. There will be wine tasting, raffles, yummy food, and child care provided. Funds raised during the event will go towards a Fall Women's Retreat.
