THREE TIME SQUASH WORLD CHAMPION VISITS

SUTTONLTC

SuttonLTC Squash members were enthralled last Friday when they played host to Former World Number One and three time World Champion Nick Matthew. Dunlop Squash arranged for Nick to play an Exhibition Match against current World No.36, 23 year old George Parker and both players delighted the Top Junior Squash players by holding a Squash Clinic earlier in the day.

S.O.S. SWITCH OFF SUTTON
You may have noticed we have recently launched a campaign to raise awareness around  Energy Saving in the Club.
Sutton Lawn Tennis Club is going to step up and do its part in fighting climate change.
Over the coming year the Club will commence a phased programme of works and initiatives aimed at upgrading the Club facilities and grounds to the highest standard of energy efficiency and renewable energy usage possible.  In doing so, we will significantly reduce energy costs for the Club and our CO2 emissions.
We have work to do. We are asking all members to do their bit in getting us off to a great start on our green journey.
SOS - We want you to Switch Off Sutton
Instead of switching off during your match, we want you to switch off lights in the Club instead.
That’s all. Just turn off lights that are not needed.
  • Last in the Dressing Room? – turn off the lights as you are leaving.
  • Somebody left squash court lights on?  - turn them off.
  • Nobody watching telly in the Bar? – Turn it off.

GYM NEWS
Premier Fit Newsletter May 9th

Hey Everyone I hope you’ve had a great week and didn’t get thrown out of routine too severely by this past bank holiday weekend. We are always working hard down in the gym with many of the members making great progress in the fitness classes between getting stronger, more mobile or simply getting more confidence performing different movements. We want to encourage participation as much as possible, but if you are new to resistance training let one our gym team know so we can have a one to one assessment to build you a plan for the gym and teach you the exercises you will use most in classes in a quiet relaxed setting.

Also relating to classes please get into best habits of using the “mycourts” website to pre-book classes so our instructors can make appropriate plans for classes with rough idea on numbers, and it will show class number limits so we don’t over pack any class. We want quality not quantity for our members.

Summer is not too far away(hard to believe as that may be with our current weather..) so get yourself down to the gym, especially if you missed the “new year, new me” vibe, this is just a good a time as any to committing to transforming yourself for you to comfortably enjoy the sunshine.

This week’s top tip is about efficiency of time spent in the Gym.

As much as we love you to all spend the day with us in the Gym, in general if you are training hard enough to make your body change for whatever your goal might be. You shouldn’t be able for more than an hour (hour and a half maybe if you’re doing a proper warm up, mobility work and stretching/ cooling down at the end). So for the next week any of you marathon gym sessioners. Try to work so hard you have to leave in an hour or less.

One thing many of the class goers did this week was a combo of Heavy overhead carries, farmer carries and heavy squats/deadlifts. To put that simply - Carry heavy things over your head or by your side and walk, then repeatedly pick up really heavy things until you reach exhaustion!

Best regards,
Premier Fit Gym Team
