I've been living with Gnarly Buttons for the last six months, slowly working on and working through this piece.
Technically, Gnarly Buttons isn't as arduous as many New Music pieces. It's very straightforward; both from the perspective of the clarinet techniques used to how the piece sounds over all. From the audience's perspective, I think it's engaging to listen to and experience.
AND...it includes a cow moo sound, so everyone is going to love it!
