I am currently looking at the possibility of running a beginners photography evening class.  This will be more hands on than the one day course I run as it will run for 8 weeks.

Here are the details of what I plan to cover on each different weeks lesson:
  1. An introduction to DSLR photography including different types of DSLR cameras, lenses and what lens to use for different subjects, flash on camera and separate unit.
  2. Understanding exposure.  ISO, how to change the ISO on your own camera, what the ISO controls, when to use high ISO, when to use low ISO.
  3. Understanding exposure. Recap on ISO, shutter speed, how to change the shutter speed on your own camera, what the shutter speed controls, when to use high shutter and low shutter.
  4. Understanding exposure. Recap on ISO and shutter speed.  Aperture (f stop), how to change aperture on your own camera, what the aperture controls, when to use high aperture and low aperture.
  5. Recap on understanding exposure including ISO, shutter speed and aperture and using your cameras light metre so you know the image will be correctly exposed before you take the photograph.
  6. Choosing other camera settings including RAW vs JPEG, automatic, manual or in between, white balance.  Composition and Framing.
  7. Practical:  Go out and practice all the skills you have learned with me on hand to help if you have any questions.  You'll be given a set of 4 tasks to complete.  I ask that you email me your images, 1 per task.
  8. In the final week we will look at each of the images sent in from week 7, each image will have a short CC.  The CC will include what was executed well in the images and pointers on how this could be improved.  No names will be allocated to images displayed so each attendee will only know their own images and not images that belong to others.
Each lesson will last approximately 1 hour so you'll have at least 8 hours of photography learning in total. This is double the learning time of the one day course I offer.  The price reflects this at £20 per week payable either in one lump sum on booking of £160 or £80 when booking and then £80 4 weeks before the course start date.  The course places will also be limited to 6 attendees compared to 10 at the one day group course.

In order to be able to ensure that the practical session on week 7 takes place during daylight hours the course will start around the week beginning 2nd March 2020.

It would be very helpful to know just how much interest there is in this type of photography learning so I have set up a list.  If you're interested in the evening course please could you complete the detailsbelow to join the waiting list and answer each question to let me know your preference of time and day.  Once I know which evenings and time slots have the most interest the course details will be sent to you and booking will be available.
