What's New

Workshop - May 14

Being a member of a board or officer of a charity or not-for-profit (NFP) is a big responsibility. Along with the volunteer commitment comes a number of duties, responsibilities and liabilities to the organization and to yourself as a director or officer.

This session will help you to understand what those duties and liabilities are so that you can comply with those obligations and reduce exposure to liability.

Workshop - May 17

With mounting pressure to do more with less, non-profit leaders are increasingly being challenged to diversify their revenue streams through the creation of social enterprise ventures. Earned-income opportunities have the potential to support complex social, economic and environmental objectives while also generating profit to support operational sustainability.

Are you an Executive Director or part of a Board of Directors who is considering what it would take to develop and/or operate a social enterprise for your non-profit or charitable organization? If yes, then this workshop on
Social Enterprise: Are you Ready? A Board Orientation is for you.

Workshop - May 21

Volunteer Ottawa is partnering with the organization NPO PM Training.org to offer this one-of-a-kind opportunity for non-profit organizations: a Project Management skills workshop, followed by one-on-one support coaching by a certified Project Manager.

Are you struggling with how to deliver projects and making the best of donor dollars? Do you know where to even start? Can you articulate your real success criteria?

This Volunteer Ottawa workshop on Project Management for NPOs includes 20 hours of one-on-one coaching following the workshop.

Does just the thought of calling a journalist make you sweat? And what about actually doing the interview? What will you say and how will you prepare for difficult questions?

Rest assured that journalists are actively seeking stories and actually welcome your ideas. But, they are being pitched stories from all sides. With careful planning your story idea will grab a journalist’s attention and you’ll give an interview that generates results for your organization

Webinar - May 30

Bringing volunteers together in person for orientation and training events can (and should) be both meaningful and engaging, but it takes intentional design to make them so!

Come to this one-hour online session on

It's time to ignore any conjecture you've heard. Ignore the anecdotal advice.

In this webinar called
How Do I Convince My Boss? Why Breaking Through the Ignorance Ceiling is Essential, Tom Ahern will provide proof-positive, airtight answers to the questions that are crucial to your fundraising success - each one world-sourced from top fundraising practitioners, creative agencies, and veteran researchers working in seven different countries.

Webinar - June 6

This webinar is for CEOs and Executive Directors with at least 10 team members. Change management is an essential function for every leader. Whether shift needed is for improving donor engagement process or launching a new service line, people tend to react similarly to change.

You need the tools to have awareness around your own change style, how your team tends to respond to change, and what you need to do to lead effectively so everyone takes responsibility for new results.
