For parents & students to understand the NCEA system and how it can help home educating families as a pathway into university or other tertiary courses. GEOMETRY WORKSHOP with Nathalie Thomas, 12 pm, Monday 13.5.19.
3D Isometric drawings - discover how to create constructions using a compass of triangles, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, specific angles.  Finding a circle’s centre, finding the centre of a triangle, bisecting lines and angles.

This is a fun, hands-on workshop where students learn geometric drawing techniques as taught in mathematics and technical drawing courses.  For 11+.  Limited spaces available, click on the image to book & for more details.  

Hi everyone!  A crazy awesome first day back last week - wonderful to see you all again, and to meet our new families and new tutors.  A beautiful day and a fantastic sight seeing so many families spread out on the grass in the sun.  It's like a giant picnic at lunchtime when the shines. Bring a picnic blanket / something to sit on and make yourselves comfortable.  

First days are always a bit hectic as we find our way around and iron out the challenges :)   Next week will be a different vibe as it all settles down.

CATCH UP CLUB:  For homeschooling friends & families to meet up & catch up. All welcome and it's free.  No schedules :)  Kids decide what they would like to do.  Lego, toys, a basketball, soccerball,  journaling materials & tea/coffee provided.   BYO board games, computer, sewing machine - play & create together.  Meet up with a friend, have some chill out fun time.  10 June, 24 June, 12pm onwards. TEACHING THE BASICS – a one day seminar for parents presented by
Dorinda Duthie.  Saturday June 8, 8:45am to 3pm. Maths, Reading & Written Language are the foundations for all other subject areas. At this seminar we will be working through a framework for teaching each of the three main subjects, looking at useful resources and learning about teaching tips to help your children understand maths, read with good comprehension and write coherent sentences and paragraphs. The information from this seminar will be useful for parents who are homeschooling their children or parents who would like to supplement what their children are doing at school.

Time to catch up?  We're providing a free space on three afternoons this term, 27.5.19, 10.6.19, 24.6.19, 12pm onwards.  

A space with a laid back "free range" style, where we can bring games, journals, computers - build some Lego, shoot some hoops, kick a ball around - have a cuppa, sit, chill, chat, do nothing - whatever.   There's (enclosed) outdoor space and toys for little ones, a community garden, a reserve, a playground, a basketball court.
