NUMBERS PROMISING FOR NTA ASSOCIATION HEALTHCARE PLAN
NEBRASKA - As NTA collects surveys for the NTA Association Healthcare Plan, results are promising. More than 70 percent of respondents said they are interested in the plan.  Forty percent said they currently have no coverage. The survey continues. If you haven't already, please take just a few minutes to complete a survey so we can move forward! The greater the numbers, the better for members!

HOURS OF SERVICE POLICY PROPOSAL COULD COME JUNE 7
NATIONAL- FMCSA Chief Ray Martinez, who was confirmed to his post in February 2018, has appeared at many industry events, including ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition and the National Truck Driving Championships. “Administrator Martinez is on the team,” Dave Osiecki said. “He understands the administration’s philosophy on trying to reduce burdens on industry and if this is an area of rules that can be made more flexible without compromising safety, I think that’s one of the approaches this administration wants to take.”

WERNER CEO DEREK LEATHERS DISCUSSES MEXICO AGREEMENT
NEBRASKA - “The one thing that is loud and clear in Mexico is we need this agreement in place and need to get this put to bed,” said Derek Leathers, CEO of Werner EnterprisesFor Werner Enterprises, one-third of its one-way truckload revenue comes from its cross-border traffic with Mexico. READ MORE
ATRI SURVEY LOOKING FOR OPERATIONAL COSTS
NEBRASKA - ATRI’s annual Operational Costs of Trucking is now in its 11th year of collecting cost information derived directly from fleet operations and is among its most requested research reports. ATRI’s annual analysis provides carriers with a critical benchmarking tool and government agencies utilize ATRI’s real-world data analysis to make better-informed transportation infrastructure investment decisions. Among the for-hire fleet metrics being requested by ATRI are driver pay, fuel costs, insurance premiums and lease or purchase payments. Carriers are asked to provide full-year 2018 cost per mile and/or cost per hour data. READ MORE
I-29 OPEN BUT HIGHLY RESTRICTED
NEBRASKA - Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has learned from its partner, the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT), they have restored limited mobility on I-29. NEBRASKA - The annual NTA Board of Directors Meeting and Spring Conference will take place this Thursday, May 16 at Iron Horse Golf Club, 900 Clubhouse Dr., Ashland, Kyle Schneweis, NDOT director will address attendees, who will get a delicious lunch before hitting the links to benefit the NTA Political Action Committee.  Forecast calls for warm, partly cloudy day, 10% chance of rain. EMERGENCY FEDERAL FUNDING FOR FLOOD STUCK IN CONGRESS
NEBRASKA- Gov. Pete Ricketts was one of 10 governors who signed a letter to Trump and congressional leaders earlier this month urging prompt action on a bill that will bill will contain funding assistance for communities damaged by hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and flooding."It is incumbent upon our national leadership to finalize a robust, timely and fair package of assistance," they wrote. READ MORE 
NEBRASKA TRUCKING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS NOW OPEN 
NEBRASKA - The NTA Foundation officially opened applications for the 2019 Scholarships to benefit CDL and/or diesel technology students. Scholarships will be awarded to the best candidates by the foundation board of directors. Applicants must be enrolled at Central Community College, Metropolitan Community College, Northeast Community College and Southeast Community College.

LIQUID TRUCKING PULLS WATER TO POOL 
NEBRASKA - Liquid Trucking is helping the city of Plattsmouth fill its pool at Twin Rivers Water Park. The park's season was in doubt as severe flooding in March damaged the Plattsmouth water treatment and wastewater facilities, forcing the city to impose restrictions: no lawn watering, no washing vehicles in driveways or filling private pools. READ MORE

WILL YOU CLEAR THE BRIDGE?
Clearances collisions with bridges and overpasses can cause serious damage and injury. You should always measure the height of your load, especially if you are hauling material that sticks out of the top of a dump trailer or truck or any type of equipment. Special permits are required if your load is over 13' 6' high.
