 On May 15th, we join our Palestinian sisters and brothers as they remember the Nakba, when over 700,000 Palestinians were violently expelled from their homes and lands, along with countless who were massacred by Israeli militias in order to establish the Israeli state in 1948.
The denial of the ongoing genocidal action by the Israeli government was enforced by the 2011 Knesset approval to reduce government funding to any non-governmental organization (NGO) that commemorates the Palestinian Nakba instead of the Israeli Day of Independence.
The reality of the Nakba of 1948 is ongoing. Today, Palestinians are evicted from their East Jerusalem homes and their West Bank land is confiscated for military exercises. Today, Palestinians in Gaza are trapped in a humanitarian crisis without adequate water and food, insufficient medical treatment, inadequate electricity and limited fishing rights.

If you don’t travel, take out your paper money and write boldly on it (this is entirely legal) “Free Palestine” or Support Palestinian Human Rights” or “Stop Funding Israeli Apartheid”, so that our American dollars will speak truth even as they provide support of the continuing Nakba.
