Scrabble for Cheaters!

Are you bad at word games, but like the mischief of game play? Are you a Scrabble purist who can prevail even when the odds are against you?

On Monday June 3rd, 2019, Scrabble and literacy lovers unite for a fun evening of Scrabble and Scrabble-related cheating at PPR’s annual Scrabble for Cheaters event!

Date:               Monday June 3rd, 2019

Time:               6:30 – 8:30 pm

Location:         The Rhino Bar and Grill – 1249 Queen St W, Toronto (just west of Dufferin St)

Follow these 3 easy steps to get involved:

  1. Become a Team Captain and Register!

Create a team of 4 people (including yourself) and email us at events@parkdaleprojectread.org with your team name, and the names of your teammates (if you already have that info). Registration deadline is May 27th.  If you don’t have 4 people, no problem! Let us know how many people are in your group and we can match you with more players. We will email you back with a Welcome Registration package with all the info you need for the event.

  1. Start Fundraising!

Are you up for the challenge of raising $250 per team member (suggested amount) for Parkdale Project Read?  You can do this in any way you like! Ask friends, family and coworkers if they would consider making a donation, hold a cupcake sale, host a chili cook-off or a karaoke night, etc. – have fun with this!

The donations that your team raises will earn Scrabble cheats for your team to use in the tournament, for example: Play a Proper Noun, Make Up A Word, Add Q/X/Z to Any Word – all things that are normally frowned upon in Scrabble, are fair game at the Scrabble for Cheaters Fundraiser! The more you fundraise, the more cheats you earn, giving you a competitive edge over other players.

We’ll even help you create online fundraising page for your team on CanadaHelps! This makes it easy for you to share on social media and for folks to support your team with online donations. Win-win! We also have good ol’ paper pledge forms for any cash or cheque donations you may receive.

  1. Come out for a jolly game of Scrabble on Monday June 3rd, 2019!

As Team Captain you will show up at The Rhino’s with your team’s collected donations, your CanadaHelps printout and/or pledge forms, and all your wonderful teammates. We will give you a Cheats Package based on the amount your team fundraised, and off you go! For an extra layer of fun, come in full costume or matching outfits!

Special thanks to our Location Sponsor, The Rhino Bar and Grill!
