Research Services (Forskningsservice) funding assistance

Research Services give support to researchers concerning external research funding. We have a specific responsibility for the European Framework Programmes and American federal funding where we give support during the grant process, including advice and information on funding opportunities, preparation of applications, budget and reporting etc. We also work with the strategic research funding initiatives (e.g. Linné and SFO) and the grants of the Wallenberg foundations.
Please find contact information on Forskningsservice

LU Innovation’s funding assistance

LU Innovation has various ways in which it can help fund research-based commercialisation projects. The assistance facilitates early assessment of the market potential of research findings. Applications are made in consultation with business developers at LU Innovation.
  • Test assistance is used to quickly and simply test whether an idea has commercial potential. The funding, up to SEK 15 000, is allocated from LU Innovation and can be regarded as relatively free petty cash with which to make early assessments of an idea – for example novelty assessment, early market analysis or external evaluation of a project’s commercial potential.
  • Verification for Collaboration (VFS) is a grant to encourage collaboration between the academia and society i.e. public organisations, non-profit organisations/trusts and companies. The grant offers support of up to 150 000 SEK to initiate new collaborative projects.
  • Verification for Growth (VFT) comprises funding from the Vinnova programme Verifiering för Tillväxt. The funding, up to SEK 300 000, can for example be used to verify production method, for costs of patents and/or trademark protection and for technical verification.
  • Accelerator assistance is to help projects that have clear market potential to come closer to the market and paying customers. The assistance is up to a maximum of SEK 300 000 and aims to finance the time required for the company to succeed in getting onto the market, i.e. the originator of the idea working on the project or the appointment of a person to work operationally.
For more information about the financial assistance, please contact Mattias Esbjörnsson or visit the website.

Legal Division

Many research projects are funded through grants or in some other way by an external party, such as another authority or a company. Regardless of how a project is financed, a contract is signed between the university and the external party as regards the terms of the funding. The contract may cover the use of the funds, publication, rights to the results, liability, project organisation and management and so on. The lawyers in Legal Department help you evaluate whether the terms benefit your project and the university. If necessary, we can also help draft agreements and in negotiations with the funding body. You can obtain legal advice in most areas regarding research projects. If a consortium agreement is to be written in an application to an EU Framework Programme, this should be done during the agreement negotiation phase.  The Legal Department provides templates and support in these negotiations. Please find contact information at Legal Services Office.

Development Office

With the help of donations, we can can fund more research, education and other activities. Donations have become an important addition to public funding and can be critical to continued success. Do you have contact with potential donors, or would like to discuss the possibility of donations to your particular research? Please contact the Development Office for further information.

Research ethics information

The website www. researchethics.lu.se provides information on ethical guidelines and laws affecting the research process. The information is based on Swedish law and on regulations at Lund University. You will also find contact details for people, institutions and public authorities with particular responsibility for answering questions on research ethics regulations. As an employee of Lund University, you also have access to research ethics support. Address any questions or queries to forskningsetik@lu.se for advice and answers or to set up a meeting.
