Children and teens at risk of inadequate food when school is not in session may receive free, nutritious meals and snacks through the Summer Food Service Program from May 1 through Aug. 17. The meals are similar to school lunch and breakfast program offerings.

One in 20 people in NC lives with a serious mental illness, and more than half the adults with mental illness don't receive needed treatment. A recent roundtable discussion included DHHS leadership, mental health providers, consumers and advocacy leaders, and the group discussed the impact of untreated behavioral health on communities and the challenges of accessing care.
