Dear Rosemount High Community Members and Parents,
On Monday, May 13, 2019, five days before Prom, we take time during our school day to deliver a very important and very impactful alcohol free/anti-drinking and driving and texting and driving message to our students.
Our student assembly Mock Car Crash will take place in the bus loop from 8:45-10:45am. This assembly is attended by our junior and senior students and features a real-time simulation of an alcohol related car crash. In a coordinated effort, Dakota County law enforcement and emergency personnel, along with other important local community businesses and members work together in a coordinated effort to provide this simulation for our students. At the same time as the Mock Car Crash, our ninth and tenth grade students will receive a similar alcohol free/anti-drinking and driving, and anti-texting and driving message at a separate assembly in our gymnasium.
We repeat these programs every other year so that all of our students are able to experience both programs once during their four year career. We deliver this program at this time because we believe in the importance of safe and healthy decision-making, staying alcohol free, never drinking and driving, and never texting and driving.
Important – To accommodate the Car Crash Simulation and for student safety, on Monday, May 13, 2019 no through traffic will be allowed on 142nd Street from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. The 142nd Street school entrance will be closed to the east at Highway 3 and to the west at the intersection of 143rd Street and Chili Avenue. In addition, students will not be permitted to enter or exit campus during this time. We apologize for this inconvenience, but thank you in advance for scheduling appointments, etc. around this activity.
