IEP and Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The IEP are pleased to announce a new partnership with The Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMLPN) to develop and expand a framework of co-operation to support mutually beneficial projects and activities.

GMLPN is a network of over 100 training providers and colleges established to represent its members’ interests and to work with and on behalf of those skills providers. Their ambition is for Greater Manchester to have a nationally recognised skills system which is a key driver of economic growth by anticipating and meeting the needs of individuals, employers and communities alike.

Andy Fawcett, Executive Director, GMLPN said “As an organisation which principally works in Greater Manchester we are acutely aware of the fact that many GM residents are caught in the low pay no pay cycle and too many people in the conurbation lack the necessary employability skills to access and sustain employment. We are also acutely aware from recent research that upwards of 15,000 young people aged 16-24 are not in work or education and are not claiming benefits and as such are not automatically receiving employability and job search support as is the case for Jobcentre Plus customers. This hidden group of young people are perhaps our greatest concern.”

Finalists for 2019 ERSA Employability Awards Announced

ERSA has announced the finalists for the 2019 Employability Awards. The list of finalists includes a wide range of organisations and individuals demonstrating exceptional service and support to help people into employment.

Now in its seventh year, the ERSA Employability Awards celebrate best practice across the employment support sector and seek to demonstrate the day-to-day hard work and dedication of those working to improve the lives of jobseekers, communities and the wider workforce.

The ten award categories highlight the breadth of work supporting people into employment, from advisers working with jobseekers to build their confidence, to organisations pioneering innovative ways of supporting people onto the right career path, and employers going that extra mile to support those with greater needs.

The 2019 ERSA Employability Awards received over 150 entries from across the UK. This year’s submissions were judged by an all-star panel, consisting of internationally recognised political thinker and Director of ResPublica, Phillip Blond, editor of The Sun’s employment page, Jane Hamilton, senior civil servant at the Department for Work and Pensions, Mark Staley, and Winner of Adviser of the Year in the 2018 awards, Tanya Weston of Genius Within.

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony on 20 June, attended by the Minister for Employment, Alok Sharma MP.
