Embracing the Potential of the Bicycle
People across the country are celebrating Bike Month by highlighting the health and lifestyle benefits of bicycling. In Northwest Arkansas, we are also celebrating the news that many of our communities are among the top-performing cities in the PeopleForBikes 2019 rankings.
The positive impact of cycling will continue to grow as we improve access to better infrastructure and programs across Northwest Arkansas. We believe these efforts are helping the region become recognized among the best bicycling locations in the nation.
The Runway Bike Park in Springdale, Arkansas exemplifies our commitment to ensuring biking is a sport for all. Its location at The Jones Center near the city’s burgeoning immigrant population gives riders of all backgrounds access to a state-of-the-art facility. It’s also a place for cyclists of all skill levels, with a family-friendly playground and features that help both beginner and seasoned riders improve.
Bike Month is also an opportunity to embrace the bicycle’s potential as a transportation option. Connected by the Razorback Regional Greenway, Northwest Arkansas offers a 400-mile network of natural-surface trails and paved paths utilized to get to work, school and our vibrant downtowns. And we are working with cities to test ideas that will make street connections during those trips safe for every rider.
Get out and celebrate Bike Month; there are lots of trails left to blaze.
