Hello my fantastic follower!

Spring is upon us and lots of exciting things have been happening here! I'm currently super busy finishing off a secret project which I'm very excited about!  I can't wait to be able to share with you later this year.  Anyway, in the mean time I have a few other exciting things to share with you.....

'Majesty' is doing me proud.....  now published in a book!

Firstly, I can now share with you that my picture ‘Majesty’ was shortlisted as one of 121 entries from over 1100 to be part of Ann Kullberg’s CP Treasures book!!! I’m very privileged to be selected from some incredible coloured pencil artists from all around the world to showcase what can be achieved with coloured pencils. I think all artists go through periods of self doubt and it’s good to get boosts like this from one of the top CP artists in the world!  It is a beautiful book to look at filled with pictures of all kinds of subjects from animals and people to flowers and food.

Watch a short clip of CP Treasures 6 to see a few of the amazing works of art that are featured!
Radio here I come!!

Following on from this I have been asked to go on the radio!!! Stuart Moore from Secklow Sounds 105.5fm has invited me to go on his drive time show tomorrow, Tuesday 7th May at 6pm.  Now the idea of live radio is pretty terrifying!! However it was too good an opportunity to pass up to be able to talk about my artwork and what I do. If you would like to listen in then just click here www.secklow1055.org
Wish me luck!

TIP OF THE MONTH
How To Create Looser Marks

If you want to create looser marks, hold your pencil further down the barrel.  I did this recently to create the wavy hair on a tigers chest. Give it a try first by holding your pencil normally then further down the barrel. It does take a little getting used to, but it really helps you loosen up!

Snow Leopard -
I always start by laying down any markings on the animal using a light grey to plot out my picture.  I've then added a light layer of French Grey 10% for the light fur.  The background is being plotted in with a light blue for the distant mountains.

I have also been selected to be part of the EWA (Exhibition Of Wildlife Art) in Wirral at the end of July! Currently (well once I have finished my secret project!) I shall be crazy busy getting my pictures finished to show here. I do have plans however, to video some of these and create written tutorials of them. This for me is probably one of the things I’m actually looking forward to the most! I have always been very passionate about learning and teaching so I can’t wait to get properly stuck in to combining my two passions together! My first one will be of a snow leopard called Laila.
Don't forget you can follow me on my various social media channels below, if you're not already!

Have a great May and keep drawing! x
