The Charleston AmeriCorps VISTA project is seeking 26 individuals to build capacity for regional organizations that work to address poverty within different focus areas. Please visit this website to learn more about the focus areas, projects, and how to apply. Business & Neighborhood Services is looking for a VISTA member to build capacity for the City's Palmetto Artisan Program. (For more info on this specific position, email Meg Thompson).

Ever wanted to take an adult field trip? The Recreation Department is taking active, older adults ages 50+ to Brookgreen Gardens near Myrtle Beach on May 15. They will be leaving James Island Rec Center at 9:00am. The cost is only $17 and covers the entry fee. For more questions, please call JIRC at (843) 795-5678.

The Daniel Island Kid's Triathlon is looking for local businesses that stand next to its mission of providing positive opportunities through recreation to enhance the quality of life of our citizens and want to give back to the community as event sponsors. In addition to community goodwill and support, sponsors will have the opportunity to have their logo featured on the finish line banner, on the back of the race t-shirts, or place a promotional giveaway item in the race. For more information, please contact Jen Nelsen at nelsenj@charleston-sc.gov.

County to Hold Public Meeting on Main Rd Segment A: US 17 & Main Rd Intersection & Main Rd Improvements - Bees Ferry to River Rd
Charleston Water System will close a small segment of the West Ashley Greenway from Albemarle Rd to Fenwick Dr from May 13 through early August to perform work on its West Ashley Sewer Tunnel Project. Signage will be posted to identify the site as the closure approaches and will remain until construction activity is complete.

The Eastside Garden Club is pleased to announce that Stacey Barrington is the winner of their first Yard of the Month. The award aims to become a neighborhood tradition. The sign was created by Elizabeth Dillon, an art teacher at St. Julian Devine Community Center, and will move around the neighborhood to recognize the gardens of the Eastside.
