Editorial
Dear Friends,
We start this edition of our newsletter with a new study, led by Paul Enck, which, for the first time, shows the role of the probiotic Bifidobacterium longum 1714 in modulating brain function in response to social stress. You will also come across a new article that has found how inulin fermentation in the colon may contribute to the beneficial effects observed on glucose metabolism and inflammation in overweight and obese subjects.
Next up is the first large-scale observational study that provides evidence of maternal breast milk and infant feces microbiota variations within and between 11 populations worldwide. Finally, a new article shows how enriched or depleted genetic functions in the gut microbiota may shape some disease risk factors.
Happy reading!
