Demons Are Cast Out
Told by Dilip Kumar
If you want to learn more about the immense influence of demonization in countries such as this, and the power of Christ over evil spirits, I highly recommend the book, Demon Possession by Presbyterian missionary, John Nevius. -Editor
Dudwe Mahji had to walk 10 miles to come to the literacy class that he attended regularly. His home is across a river and on the other side of a mountain.
One day after class he said, "My son is suffering from a demon. He cannot talk and is always screaming and shouting. He often hits me or his mother and keeps our lives in turmoil. I've spent so much money on witch doctors and medical doctors but they could not help him. He is not getting better.
"But since attending here, I've been hearing stories about how Jesus Christ does miracles. That's why I'm coming for the classes. I want you to come to our house and pray for my son."
"Please tell us what the commandments of God are, so we can follow God and the Bible only."

So after the service on Sunday, I went there, along with another believer. It was nearly dark when we finally arrived at Dudwe Mahji's home. As soon as the boy saw us he began shouting. It was clear to us that it was a demon spirit that had possessed the boy (his son is 14 years old and is in the 9th grade).
So during that night, we prayed for him.
The next day we told the parents, "Call your whole family and we will begin fasting and praying together." There was no change in the boy that day, so the second day we kept on praying.
I told them the story about the man in the Bible who brought his son, who had a mute spirit, to Jesus for healing (Mark 9:14-29).
Finally, after two days the boy became quiet.
Meanwhile a crowd from the village had gathered to watch what we were doing. So I went out and told them that same Bible story. A few people asked us to stay another night, so I took advantage of the opportunity to tell them the Creation Story and other stories from the Bible.
It was on that third night that the boy was totally healed!
Right away he began attending our meetings, and some of his school friends are also attending regularly. Now we are planning to start a new church in that village.
The whole family is so happy because of what happened. They are asking us, "Please, tell us what are the commandments of God, so we can follow God and the Bible only."

One wouldn't leave
One day one of our adult literacy teachers, Bashanta Khora, called me.
He said, "There's a person who is possessed by a demon. I went and prayed, but the demon did not go out. So please come and let's both go and pray for her together."
So he and I and a few of our other literacy teachers went to visit that family.
I told them the story of the man who had a legion of demons (Mark 5:1-20).
The man who had 2,000 demons
That family was totally Hindu. But after telling the story, they began to take all their Hindu worship objects out of their house. They had many books about the Hindu religion and other subjects. The value of their books was many thousands of rupees.
The girl was possessed by a devi [a particular kind of spirit]. But when we prayed for her, immediately the devi left her and she became well.
And still today, she is doing well. One of our literacy teachers is regularly going to their house and leading prayer services there.

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU that you could go to an unreached village and share the Good News with people who have never heard? YOU CANFor just $30 a month, the storyteller you send will be able to go where the Gospel has never been preached. They will give literacy classes and attempt to plant a new church. As villagers hear the powerful stories from the Bible, and are introduced to the love of God, the Holy Spirit can begin to change their hearts.
