Thinking "visually" has long been ingrained in our minds as early as 1st grade Venn Diagram days. (Who doesn't still love those??)

In data communications, a well-crafted pie chart or graph acts as an important bridge between artistry and science. It's the right-brain and left-brain coming together. It's the merging of the minds. Chocolate/vanilla swirl. Croissant + donut = cronut—okay you get it.

Communicating visually is nothing new but "data viz" in all its buzz-term glory has truly become mainstream. Since 2012, online searches for “infographics” have increased by over 800%.

Whether it's big data or big ideas, telling that story with graphics, images, charts—heck, even MEMES—is going to be helpful.

And no, you don't have to have a full-time data designer to do so. Read on...

Seeing: The superior sense

Visualizing data = visualizing success

Data viz lowdown: history, inspiration, and a resource toolbox—all in one place

Allow me to re-introduce myself...

A PowerPoint tutorial series saving you time in this often dread-inducing software. In this "Getting Started" episode, top notch Ranchero and YouTube tutorial engineer Steve Sheets wants to help you become more efficient in the PPT workspace.

With easier and faster workflows, you can focus on the design and delivery of your projects. Because as designer Charles Eames once said...

"The details are not the details. They make the design."

The original "Big Data" approves.

(I had to).
Do you know a data viz wiz? (Gonna use that title as many times as possible).

In conclusion: I'm a child (at heart) and a visual learner.

It's likely your colleagues and customers are too. So don't tell a story about data without a picture to go with it.

You know how it is—if you give a mouse a cookie...
